Difference between sh int output in 12.1(13)EA1 and 12.1(19)EA1

Hello,

here I have sh int output of 12.1(13)EA1 on Cat2950:

GigabitEthernet0/1 is up, line protocol is up(connected)

Hardware is Gigabit Ethernet, address is 000b.fd08.f0f2 (bia 000b.fd08.f0f1)

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 1000 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive set (10 sec)

Full-duplex, 1000Mb/s

Link type is autonegotiation, media type is SX

You can see difference between two outputs after "Received xyz broadcasts" in 12.1(19) is "(0 multicast)". What is meaning of this?

What is difference between this counter and multicast counter two rows under that in brackets?

Also almost 34% in first output and 56% in second of input packets are broadcast(multicasts). Can I troubleshoot source of that traffic somehow without sniffer ?

i am not sure what the difference is. I always use the "show interface counters" and "show interface counters errors" for troubleshooting ethernet links on the 2950/3550. Its much easier then reading the show interface output.
