I just set up a small wan. I have two ap's configured the same, in the same envirionm have ent, same antennas,. When pinging the AP'a I get 2 ms on one and 18ms on the other using a laptop with a wireless Belkin adaptor.
Also on the 18ms AP I have to had set the data rate setting for 5.5 and 11 to 'yes' in order for the router to DHCP. The result with this AP is that the download data rate is approx. 50% slower. Error's on either are nil. Long retries on the 18ms AP with 100% signal strength and 78% Link range 25% of total packets to user station.
Could it be that the APs are within eachothers range? Unpredictable behaviour will occur in this situation. You should use a differnet channel on each of them if this is the case. To test this properly, deactivate one of the APs and test the other one and vice versa.
