Dijkstra SPF algorithm in OSPF vs. 24bit composite metric in IGRP

Dijkstra SPF algorithm in OSPF vs. 24bit composite metric in IGRP, which is better method to determine best route? Does IGRP have better "best route" calculation method comparing to OSPF because it has lower default administrative distance? Is Administrative Distance valued by using "best route" calculation method as the factor?

Hi there,

u cannot compare 2 routing protocols using 'metric' as the criterion.Metric is used within the same protocol to determine the best route if it has more than one route.diffrent protocols uses diffrent criteria for the metric calculation.ospf uses bandwidth but igrp uses bandwidth and delay.

to comapare 2 diffrent routing protocls Admin distance is used.
