discards on sc0 interface

Does anyone know what might be causing a large amount of discards to amount on a Sc0 interface on 6500,

hi

AFAIK few possible reasons for the discards are to free up the buffer space,on during heavy traffic load conditions frames are tend to be discarded,if its of VLAN discard frames then the reason is due to the CFI(canonical format identifier)set.

If the sc0 interface receives a packet that does not match the sc0's mac address, for example, the packet is marked as a discard.

You may want to SPAN the SC0 interface to see if it is receiving any unusual traffic.

switch(enable) set span sc0 ?
