We installed LMS 2.1 a few weeks ago, not without some problems.
During the ANI server discovery, the ATM Token Ring Elan interfaces in our network are going down for a few seconds! This happens even when the Discovery performance setting is lowered to 15%. Of course this was a very unwelcome surprise, especially because CW2000 has a default discovery schedule during office hours (why not schedule at night?).
Has anyone experienced this, interfaces going down as a result of a discovery?

ANI/Campus discovery does not causes any interfaces to go down. You can get a sniffer trace to see exactly what's causing this problem.
As for the discoery schedule, you can set the day, time and frequency of when a discovery and status polling will occur of your own choice from Server Configuration->Setup->ANI Server Admin->Discovery Schedule

Why are you so sure about the ANI/Campus discovery does't cauce the problem?
I have 2 * 7204 routere and the ATM LANE LEC(lient) is changed to down every time the discovery i running.
The 7204 routere is:
-not configured as seed device in Ciscoworks
-running IOS 12.1(17)
-configured with HSRP on the tokenring LANE interfaces
I have some debugging info from the router when the problems occurred:

Re: Discovery causes serial interface/protocol to bounce
Yes. We have experienced a similar problem with CiscoWorks 2000 LMS release 4 and release 5. Coinciding with the discovery schedule (but not always with every discovery), we would experience anything from multiple OSPF neighbor downs on the Serialx/x interface (frame relay) sometimes with protocol down to complete interface down for about 10 to 30 seconds.
No idea why. I have reduced the number of discovery events AND removed the router experiencing this from the seed device list. This seems to help.

Have a look at CSCdz11668 via CCO Bug Toolkit which was observed only on Solaris platform and the cause are Solaris patches and not ANI itself.

We are running it on Windows 2000 SP2. In another discussion on this forum ("CiscoWorks 2000 ANI Server problem", last post Nov 19) a similar problem is stated.
There you suggested in the end to contact TAC to troubleshoot this problem further. I think that's the best thing to do.
Best regards

The ddts mentioned above was observed only on Solaris platform, if you're seeing the same on Windows, then the best thing to do is to contact TAC to troubleshoot this further.
