I have 2 G4908XL switches that are aggregates for 12 3548XL stacks. I have 15 VLANs configured other than VLAN1. VLAN1 has an address range of 172.16.0.0/20. Each VLAN has an address range of 10.2.4.0/23, 10.2.8.0/23, 10.2.12.0/23....on and on. We have 10 Netware 5.1 servers for file/print. When I put a workstation into a VLAN other than VLAN1 (where all the servers are) I often have trouble opening Word documents. They either take a long time to open or they become corrupted. Any ideas?
This is something I have seen many times, and you will see the same on excel, power point and similar documents. Not much you can do to alleviate the problem, as the way these programs open the files makes traversing layer 3 devices problematic.
