Does a OSPF area partitioned need virtual link

As OSPF suggested "virtual link" is used to link a area isn't connected bankbone area 0 by physical connection or link a bankbone area 0 by partitioned. I meeted a situation, a area have tow routers connected area 0 ABRs through two links. The area will be partitioned if the link between the tow routers. Does the OSPF area partitioned need a virtual link through ABR?

I have tested the situation in my lab environment, the route entries is right without the virtual link excepting marked "O IA" aulthough belong the same area.

Yeah, it is a good idea to configure a virtual link in your case, because, otherwise the area would get partitioned. Configuring the virtual link will list the areas as O.

The are needs to be connected , to make it whole you do not necessarily need a virtual link. you could tie it together using a tunnel
