Does 'boot host tftp...' override the NVRAM config?

When I put "boot host tftp...." in our router config, will the router pull the config from the tftp server (if it can find it), or does it try NVRAM? The docs imply that it will load from the tftp server, but I'm being told otherwise by individuals.

It will try to get the config file form tftp server first and if it gets it, it will be loaded in the RAM. If it can't get it, it will load the config file from NVRAM.
