Does catalyst 3550 support ipx layer 3 routing ?

To my knowledge it does not. Anyone else correct me?

It does not. IP only on both EMI and SMI images.

Yes, it is correct that the 3550s do not support IPX routing. One possible alternative is to configure fallback bridging which enables you to forward non-IP packets that the switch does not route between VLAN bridge domains and routed ports.
