Does "logging" command to a host also use snmp?

Hi all,

I am confused about it. Because I will apply an access-list on the path from the router and the logging host. I am afraid I will drop the logging packet.

Thank You!

Best Regards

Teru Lei

Teru Lei,

snmp traps are not enabled until "snmp-server trap" command is issued. So, logging host command enables SYSLOG (514 UDP) and not SNMP (161/162 (trap)). snmp-server host x.x.x.x is for SNMP traps.

Hope this helps you,

Don
