why do we get this message

SWI01#www.i4u.com

Translating "i4u.com"...domain server (10.80.0.50)

% Unknown command or computer name, or unable to find computer address

here the doamin name and name server conf are done on the switch

The router is trying to resolve the IP of i4u.com via the DNS 10.80.0.50. But it cannot find corresponding IP for this domain name. Is your DNS server include this entry ? If not, it is normal.

Just to add to Jack's post: if you want to stop this from happening, configure 'no ip domain-lookup'.

what will be the result if it is successful.say the translation is successful, will i get the ip addres of the domain server.

If you have a name-server configured using 'ip name-server' then the configured DNS server will return the IP address of www.i4u.com...
