1.If I nat 172.16.2.5 to x.x.x.x public ip.

will I be able to ping and trace from a public machine to 172.16.2.5.

2.That is will my trace results show reachability till the public interface and drop from their or

Hi,

No, it won't. First of all, as you know there is private IP addresses are not routable. But, you can ping and get response to Public IP of 172.16.2.5(Static NAT) from outside, which is not possible with dynamic NAT.
