Unfortunately the fact that you want it for your CCNA lab does not create an exception to the policy that downloading software for routers from Cisco requires a license/maintenance contract. And Cisco is the only legitimate place to get the code upgrades. So it seems not possible for you to upgrade these routers. Many of us have suggested that Cisco should have some mechanism to help people who are preparing for certification that would provide some way to get router and switch code. But so far nothing like that exists.
