DRAM usage in Catalyst6000's

I've noticed from the 'show ver' command on Cat6000's that usually about 40-60% of the DRAM is being used even when there is nothing connected into the switch. Can anyone tell me what is taking up this space? It seems pretty standard across the board with all Cat's.

The IOS is taking part of that memory. The protocols running on the box will also use part of the memory for their operations. Use show proc mem to see what is taking memory in addition to the IOS/catOS.
