We have a VPN tunnel between 2 different sites with DS3 connections to the Internet. We get very slow data transfer between the 2 sites and when I watch the output rate on either end it never gets above ~2.5 Mbps. I'm transferring 50MB files and it takes about 8 minutes to transfer between the sites. There are no limits on our connections and download speeds from other sites will burst up to ~40 Mbps. If I take VPN encryption out of the way, we still see slow outbound transfer rates. Anyone have any idea why we would see slow outbound transfers?

You can do some physical layer testing to check if you get DS3 rate in your local loop. Since you are using Internet to connect the sites, I doubt whether you will get the same rate end-to-end unless the provider is guaranteeing QoS and has commited for this SLA.

We have had the same issues and it was determined that some parameters in the ftp software. The slider window was set to small. Hope that helps.
