A client has 2 6509's with dual Sup 1a's. Documentation shows they are in slots 5 and 6. Is this possible and what functionality is lost if so? Will failover function? Do 1a's function in SRM? Do they support NSF?
Thanks for the reply. I realize that the 1A's SHOULD be in slots 1 and 2 I would like to know is it possible for them to function in 5 and 6 at all(hence is my documentation showing them in 5 and 6 reliable). My belief is that they would function but with no redundancy(so one of them would function). Would there be a bandwidth impact (I think so) is there any other issue I am not aware of?
No,I was referring to a Visio drawing of a system we are having problems with. I subsequently learned they were not 1A's as the drawing showed but 720's (and thus in the right slots). I was also informed that the cards are keyed so they wouldn't physically fit in the incorrect slots.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
