Dynamic cam table not showing connected MAC addresses

We have a Cat 6513 running CatOS 8.5(2). When attempting to show the MAC addresses in the Dynamic CAM table, nothing gets returned:

kssnchqlsw21> (enable) sh cam dynamic 1/19

* = Static Entry. + = Permanent Entry. # = System Entry. R = Router Entry.

X = Port Security Entry $ = Dot1x Security Entry M = Mac-Auth-Bypass Entry

Destination Ports or

VLAN Dest MAC/Route Des [CoS] Age VCs / [Protocol Type]

---- ------------------ ----- ---------- ---------------------

Total Matching CAM Entries Displayed = 0

kssnchqlsw21> (enable)

However there are devices connected to that port, as shown through port security:

kssnchqlsw21> (enable) sh port security 1/19

* = Configured MAC Address

Port Security Violation Shutdown-Time Age-Time Max-Addr Trap IfIndex

----- -------- --------- ------------- -------- -------- -------- -------

1/19 enabled restrict 0 2 3 disabled 285

Port Flooding on Address Limit Last-Src-Addr Vlan TimerType

----- ------------------------- ----------------- ---- ----------

1/19 Enabled 00-14-f2-bb-21-88 200 Absolute

Port Num-Addr Secure-Src-Addr Vlan Age-Left Shutdown/Time-Left

----- -------- ----------------- ---- -------- ------------------

1/19 2 00-13-20-0a-46-3d 120 1 no -

00-14-f2-bb-21-88 200 1

kssnchqlsw21> (enable)

Why would this be? Normally I've always been able to view the attached device MAC addresses via "sh cam dyn". Thanks.

Re: Dynamic cam table not showing connected MAC addresses

Sorry, that should be 'static' rather than 'permanent'

Re: Dynamic cam table not showing connected MAC addresses

Hi,

This is a function of port security. once a dynamically learned MAC address becomes secure, it becomes a "permanent" entry. Use "show cam permanent" to display these entries.

That was it. Thank you very much.
