Easy IP question.

Hi

Could someone please tell me what the subnet for the host IP address 17.16.210.0/22 would be, and how they calculated it?

Thanks in advance

Dan

Re: Easy IP question.

17.16.208.0 is the subnet address.

1)mask /22 -> 255.255.252.0

2)magic number= 256-252 (252 is from the third octet of the mask, which is less then 255)

3)magic number is 4

4)210/4=52,5

5)52*4=208

subnet is 17.16.208.0 and the next is 17.16.212.0

subnet address 17.16.208.0

subnet broadcast: 17.26.211.255

available address: 17.16.208.1 - 17.16.211.254

bye
