EIGRP between Cisco Switches

Hi,

I am trying to establish an EIGRP relationship between a C3550-12G and C3550-24-EMI. The config is

C3550-12G

VLAN 1 - 172.16.1.50\16,

C3550-24-EMI

VLAN 1 - 192.168.1.1\24, 172.16.1.51\16 (secondary)

However the relationship doesn't get established. C3550-12G comesup with the message that "neighbor 192.168.1.1 is not on the common subnet".

Is it that EIGRP process would only use the Primary IP Address as the network id and that is why C3550-24 is using 192.168.1.x network and not including 172.16..x.x network ?

Re: EIGRP between Cisco Switches

Hi,

You are right that, EIGRP forms neighbors / sends hellos only on the primary network address. So swap your primary and secondary addresses on the second switch. and you should be good to go.

Hope that helps@!
