EIGRP exchanges the full routing table?

"EIGRP exchanges the full routing table at startup, and then partial routing updates thereafter" Is this statement true? Does IGRP use the same method? If yes, why EIGRP is faster convergence than IGRP?

hi...

yes that is true for all most all the routing protocols that at very firts they exchange the full routing table and then some of the send only incremental update like linkstate routing protocols and some are sending full routing table at regular interval like distance vector...

EIGRP have successor and fesible successor so if successor goes down then fesible successor will talke place... it means EIGRP discovered its redundant path for the primary path at the same time when it elect the primary one... as well as it use DUAL as well as it uses query and response mechanisam which also help it to converge fast...

hope this will help you

rate this post if it helps
