## EIGRP Metric

any body has explanation why the calculated metric by router is 5005056 while if u try to calculate it by equation it gives a different result 256(20+(10^7/512)=5005120 note that:Ks values are default

output shown from sh ip eigrp topolgy 10.10.10.0

-----------------------------------------------------

Composite metric is (5005056/5002496), Route is External

Vector metric:

Minimum bandwidth is 512 Kbit

Total delay is 200 microseconds

First, you have to do it in the right order, and second, you have to realize the router doesn't do floating point math when calculating eigrp metrics. So, what you really have to do is:

(10^7/512) = a (drop the decimal points

(a + delay)256 = metric

In this case:

10000000/512 = 19531

(19531 + 20)256 = 5005056
