EIGRP Route Tags

I need to filter routes by adding a tag to routes in EIGRP. I need to add a tag globally to all routes in one neighbor so that all updates from that neighbor are tagged. Any ideas?

Re: EIGRP Route Tags

Are the routes locally connected / static / or redistributed from a diff protocol into eigrp on that neighbor ??

Route maps can be used to set tags on a route

router eigrp 45

redistribute connected route-map settag

redistribute static route-map settag

redistribute rip route-map settag

route-map settag permit 10

set tag

where XX is the tag number

Hope that helps!

Re: EIGRP Route Tags

Thanks, after a little study, I discovered that you can only apply tags in redistribution. I was wanting to apply tags to all routes from a neighbor router to be able to filter those routes from an EIGRP to OSPF redistribution a couple of hops away. Tag application did work with a route-map when redistributing static routes into EIGRP.

Re: EIGRP Route Tags

Right--externals, at the moment, are the only eigrp routes that can be tagged. Work is under way to add the ability to "tag" internal routes, but it's going to be a while before it's ready and out.
