EMI & SMI is the types of images.
Enhanced Multilayer Image
Standard Multilayer Image
SMI provides you very few future of the IP services where EMI is having all most all the support for the IP services including high avibility protocols like HSRP ...and all most all the routing protocols future ...

Hi Guys,
Here is the diffrence :
SMI, provides basic L3 features like Static routing, RIP and other basic features.
EMI, provides advanced L3 features like OPSF, EIGRP, BGP, Advanced QOS, Mulitcast routing and PBR.

EMI - Enhanced Multilayer Image
SMI - Standard Multilayer Image
SMI has got only limited features eg. basic IP services etc...
EMI has got more features eg. IPsec,advanced IP services, Routing functionalities & so on.
you need to have CCO login to download EMI IOS.
