enable - "% Error in authentication"

Hi,

we have a router Cisco 1720 with IO Version 12.0(4)T.

We can make telnet, but when we try to access in privileged mode the router return the next error:

cisco1720>en

% Error in authentication.

Which is the problem? How can we resolve it?

Thanks.

do you have any authentication enabled ? AAA Radius ? local ? try typing login at the cisco1720> prompt .

Re: enable - "% Error in authentication"

This sort of error is normally found when AAA fails to find a user name match. If it fails to find a username match, it will consult RADIUS server. If no RADIUS server is found, RADIUS returns an error and AAA tries to use a TACACS+ server. If no TACACS+ is found ,TACACS+ will return this sort of error. This is what I think . Good luck
