Greetings... Is there any type of encryption for layer two links? Assuming I've a a trunk link between 2 switches and I need to encrypt data on specific VLAN, is that even possible? Do you guys have any suggestions?
The switches will not perform this task for you. As well behaved layer2 devices, they do not touch anything above their L2. When your security needs are so that you want to encrypt the data on a certain vlan, you need to equip all nodes on that vlan with some kind of encryption software.
