hello,

i managed to load two IOS versions in a Cisco 1700 router and point it to boot via the boot command in running-config.

it seems there is not enough RAMin the box, and now i want to make it boot with the old image which btw is in there ... or at least this what dir flash: tells me in rommon.

no matter what i do with the boot flash:filename command the box still tries to load the new image.

is there is a way to make the box use the old image?

is the old image still there?

how can i erase the flash without having access the normal mode - and after that load the original version via the xmodem?

thank you,

mihai

You cannot delete from rommon. Does your router boot fine? If it does, you can delete it once it has booted. Make sure you squeeze flash as well

hello,

no - the router doesn't boot in the normal mode.

the only way ic an type commands is the rommon.

no matter what i do or which IOS version i load always the router says there is not enough memory.

thx.

More than likely you have too much info in nvram. It usually gives you that problem (not enough memory).

You need to boot from flash w/o startup configuration.

Following link will guide you in this process ( look at Reset the Router portion):

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_mod/1700/1720/1720hig/trbshoot.htm#xtocid3

After you boot to normal mode, you can see your startup configuration and update it. You also can erase and reload your flash. Make sure you setup TFTP server. http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/tftp

I hope it will help.
