Re: errdisable on switchport

What switch is it? What is the reason for the port to err-disable? The following document should help for CAT OS platforms

Re: errdisable on switchport

Almost all switches have some form of errdisable recover, just a matter of what it will recover from. Try here for more info, depending on what switch you have and/or OS level will make a difference in what you can recover from..

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_command_reference_chapter09186a00801a6c32.html#2946661

Of course, taking care of whatever problem prompted the errdisable also helps...

To see the reason, try

sh errdisable recovery

it will usually show you the reason for the errdisabled port.

To recover on most ports, simply shut/no shut the interface.

Re: errdisable on switchport

So, what kinda links are they?? Gig links? You most likely have a faulty GBIC. past that, test your fiber or whatever cabling(i.e. fluke meter)you have. One of these is most likely your culprit.

Re: errdisable on switchport

Most of the newer switches also have the option to have the switch try and bring it back up automatically after a specified period of time , but this does not find the cause of the problem .
