Error in 'test interface' in c2600

I am new here and I don't know if I am in the right area but I have a question that may be answered by one of you (hope).

When I go into the c2600 and do a 'test int serial0/0' I get a timeout problem.. 0 pass 1 failed. Does anyone know what this mean?

I have a point to point T1 and verizon ppl said it may due to a timeout in the router. If that is the cause, can anyone suggest anything?

thanks,

Ko

This test seems to be a more reliable indication that something works when it passes than it is an indication that something doesn't work when it fails. I have seen interfaces that could be pinged and could route traffic just fine but still time out on the test (even when back-to-back in the same room). I wouldn't rely on this to troubleshoot with.

do you have a suggestion?

thanks in advance,

Ko

Ko,

This command doesn't test your line it's actually intended for

checkout at the factory.
