Error Message MCAST-4-RX_JNRANGE: IGMP:

After enabling IGMP on all my access switches (5500s running 5.5(18)). I'm getting this message,

"Error Message MCAST-4-RX_JNRANGE: IGMP: Rcvd Report in the range of 01-00-5e-00-00-xx"

What does this mean?

Thanks.

Minh

Re: Error Message MCAST-4-RX_JNRANGE: IGMP:

Hi,

my understanding is that some device in your network is trying to join a multicast group 224.0.0.xx.

But this address is in a reserved range (see http://www.iana.org/assignments/multicast-addresses), which might be considered as an error by the old CatOS version 5.5(18) if the 224.0.0. xx is unknown to it.

What is the xx number?

Regards,

Milan
