error message on cat4k

What does it mean the following message :

%SYS-4-P2_WARN: 1/Tag 0 on packet from 00:d0:59:18:41:05 port 2/5, but port's native vlan is 17

Thanks,

Christophe

Re: error message on cat4k

Hi,

it seems like native VLAN problem on your trunk port.

There is a frame coming untagged from source address 00:d0:59:18:41:05 which probably is a member of other VLAN then VLAN17 (the native one) and so the frame should be tagged.

Check the native VLAN setting on both line ends (sh trunk mod/port on CatOS, sh int ... switchport on IOS).

Re: error message on cat4k

It looks like the following:

The port is receiving an untagged frame (802.1q) on port2/5 from the mentioned mac-adress.

You will have set the port to only accept tagged frames.

The native vlan is set to 17.

Either set the receiver to accept untagged frames also or configure the sending side to tag all frames. Also verify that the native vlan is the same on both sides of the link.
