Errors on interface

Hi there,

I noticed a strange problem on one of our switches in the network. We have 2 switches which are interconnected with a crossed cable and both switches show up that they are running on 100fdx. If i look at switch number 1 everything is just fine. But if i have a look at switch number 2 i can see that there are a lot of CRC error and input errors. Could it be that the crossed cable is low quality but then i suppose that i also should see the errors on switch 1. I really don't know from where this is coming from....does anyone have an idea??

thanks a lot for the support

Regards,

Yves

Hi Yves,

Since the transnit and receive directions of the traffic run on different pins/wires within the cables, it could be possible that the wire carrying the traffic from switch1 to switch2 is not quite running cleanly. That is one reason why you only see errors on one side of the link.

I would suggest that you try a new cable before you do anything else...

Hope that helps - pls rate the post if it does.
