EssentialsDBEngine crash

Hello all,

We have RME 3.3 on a WIN2000 platform with dual 750MHZ cpu and 1 GB memory.

The system contain 1.5GB paging .

We manage about 800 routers of several series (2600,3600,2500,DecBRouter - ios 9.x,4000 and 7200).

The EssentialsDBEngine process crash a few times writing event log of an exhausted memory. we saw a 900 MB peak and no pagging use.

All the times a restart would start the process . after the last time the process is down and we can't start it.

1. Does CW2K use pagging memory ( i know thee is a way to tell JAVA VM how much memory to use) ?

2. What can we do now is there away to restore information ( we have a RME backup).

TIA.

Greetings.

Re: EssentialsDBEngine crash

DecBRouter - ios 9.x --> Seems like a very old device running IOS 9.x?. If so, then RME 3.3 does not even support such an old IOS. The min IOS required for most of the devices per the support devices list is 11.0 and the above is not even supported. What exact process are you doing for the devices that is causing this process crash?. If you have a good backup, you can clean up the db by doing a reinit and then restore from the backup. The procdure is listed in the User's Guide as well as the RME on-line help within the application.

Re: EssentialsDBEngine crash

We know that devices running IOS below 11.0 is not supported but we were able to add the DebBRouter anyway ( some features aren't available for them). Does this can cause the DB failure ?

We are nor running anything special during the crash .

For the DecBRouter we only need the Configuration Archive.

Re: EssentialsDBEngine crash

We have had the same problem on some of our servers, and we are not running any older devices. So far TAC has been unable to find the cause of our problem.

I couldn't understand from the last input if the process is still down and if not how did it went up?
