Etherchannel Question

Hi,

I am working on a network design that invloves 2 x 4506's with SupV-10ge as core devices, these have also got 1 x Catalyst 4500 24-port 10/100/1000 Module (RJ45) in each (WS-X4424-GB-RJ45)

I want to run a 4 Gbps etherchannel between these two switches by using 2 ports on the SupV-10GE and 2 ports on the copper Eth module (Dont ask). I understand this can be done as long as the "capabilities" are the same on each line module.

Unfortunatly i do not have the kit in stock to check this at present, does anyone have a link or a definate answer as to whether an etherchannel can be formed in such a way.

Hi there,

If you're using CatOS, then you need to worry about capabilities, but looking at this link, then if you're using IOS and the ports are the same speed, then you should have no problems.

That helps out, I guess the worse case solution is that i run 2 x etherchannel groups anyhow
