After enabling 'debug ethernet-controller addesses' on a Catalyst 3500 XL switch, the log shows multiple add and delete addresses similar to the following:
Add Address [MAC], on port 54 vlan 1
Delete Address [MAC], on port 54 vlan 1
The MAC addresses are all different. I used the 'show spanning-tree interface' command to determine that port 54 is actually interface 0/38 on the switch. The interface is down, and is not used for anything special.
What would be causing this activity? Has anyone encountered this?
