Ethernet Frame transmission

When transmitting frames across ethernet, I've read that the transmission order is from the LSB to the MSB of byte 0. But I've also read somewhere else that is goes the other way. My confusion is with the I/G bit for multicast. I know that the first 3 bytes of a multicast MAC address begins with 01:00:5e. This would mean that the I/G bit for the destination MAC is the LSB of byte 0. Another book has the I/G bit as the MSB of byte 0. Does anyone know the correct transmission order of bits and which bit is for I/G addressing?
