Ethernet Interface for ISL Routing in 2610 ???

Hi anyone please clarify if I were to use the subinterface of ethernet ports(e0/0.1,e0/0.2...) in 2610 to conduct the ISL routing for few VLANs instead of using the fastethernet port, is it alright to that ?

Maximum how many subinterfaces can be created over one physical ethernet port of 2610 ?

Is there any difference by using e0/0 and fast0/0 ?

Please help out.

You cannot create sub interfaces on a 10 mbps port. 2610 has a 10mbps port. Sub interfaces can be created only on 100 mbps ports. You should be looking forward for a 2620 atleast to do this.

You can find the maximum number of subinterfaces allowed per platform, it is an IOS version dependant. The maximum number of interfaces a router can handle depends on the maximum number of IDBs it can use.
