Exact difference between 530 and 530A smart cables

Hi, the Router Cable Specifcation shows the pinout for the 530 DTE and the 530A DCE cable as identical, the only difference being at the router connection where a different local connection is used. (530 = Mode_0 , 530A = MODE_1 )

I assume that these control the generation / use of clocks but I can find no reference anywhere that defines how these different cables control the hardware. Does anybody know exactly what to expect with these two cables?

Regards

Mike

I believe that the "A" stands for asyncronous and the 530 without the "A" is synchronous.

Thanks - If it is that simple why is not made clear in the cable specifications?
