exec-timeout not working

Hi,

I have two hosts from different location telneting to a Cisco 2600 Router, which is configured with

+++++++++++

line vty 0 4

exec-timeout 0 0

++++++++++++

Host1 -> Is telneting to the router from the local LAN (though from a different Subnet)

Host2-> Is telneing to the router from a remote site through an IPSec Tunnel (between 831 and PIX)

We have done around 10 tests and the result is always as below

1. Host1 remains connected as long as monitored (atleast for 3 hours)

2. Host 2 "Always" get disconnected after 2 hours. A tcpdump trace on Host 2 shows that it gets a "R(reset" packet from the router.

Why would the router not send the packet to Host 1 But will always disconnect Host 2 ?

I don't see any keep-alive messages being exhanged, so don't think that its as issue of some messages being lost for Host 2 ?

Can anyone provide some guide line ?

Regards \\ Naman

Re: exec-timeout not working

When using menues: The exec-timeout line configuration command can be used to close and clean up an idle menu; the session-timeout command can be used to clean up a menu with an open connection.

To specify no timeout, enter the exec-timeout 0 0.

You should tweak the seconds a bit to have some timeout as needed.
