Exit a inter router telnet session to an incorrect address

if a make a telnet session from router a to router b, but I get the ip address slightly wrong and it. Can i quit the session before the timeout.

Ive tried ctrl - shift- 6 x

also crtl - shit 6, ctrl shift 6

Ctrl c, Ctrl v etc but with no success. Is there a control sequence to get out without waiting for the timeout?

Yes.. Issue the following sequence:

1. Type Control-Shift 6

2. Then Control-Shift 6 again

3. then x

This will cancel the wrong telnet session and it also works for pings when you type the wrong destination address.
