Explanation of
debug serial-interface
Output

When running debug serial-packet and debug serial-interface on a

Cisco 2501 serial port, I get:

HD(1): got an interrupt state = 0x815FHD(1):

New Serial state = 0x015Flater

HD(1): Input Buffer overflow.

What does this mean?

Re: Explanation of
debug serial-interface
Output

These are reports from the serial controller (Hitachi HD64570) about state changes

(CD state changing, for example). HD(1) is Serial 1. The HEX numbers are dumps

of a register that you can decode from the chip databook, but you will probably

find that these messages are all harmless. They are included to help our engineers

track down problems. If there is no problem accompanying these messages, they can

be safely ignored.
