Extended Ping/Trace

Hi

i hve some questions regarding the extended ping options.

1.whats the need of setting header option like loose,strict,record,timestamps,verbose??and y the hop count is only 9 if u choose record ?if we can check where the packet goes and comes using this option then y its not 30 hops max.so that we can use the extended ping itself to cehck the route and also the connectivity.

2.How can we change the data pattern which is in hexa decimal value?

3.same thing in extended trace also wht is meant by loos,strict options???

regarding the data patterns 0xffff = all 1's

0x0000 = all zeros, zeros and ones = 0x4040
