fabric switching mode and performance impact

Is there a performance degradation when using a 6513 with fabric modules and mostly fabric-enabled cards but using a non-fabric card as well?

ie - Using a 6513 with all fabric-aware linecards and installing an IDSM - The IDSM will force a switching mode change on the fabric module but will this impact the fabric-enabled conversations across the fabric crossbar?

Re: fabric switching mode and performance impact

To put it as simply as possible:

- the THROUGHPUT is reduced from 30 Mpps to 15 Mpps

- the BANDWIDTH capacity is not reduced for the fabric enabled cards

In other words, the fab cards still use the fabric to xmit the payload of every frame, and only the 1st 64 bytes of those frames are put on the bus.

So even at large frame sizes, we get ~15Mpps, as opposed to a non fabric system, where 15Mpps is only possible at 64 byte frames.
