Assuming I've connectivity to two ISPs one as primary and the other as backup.I understand though I've two different ip pools (per se ISP1 IP pool,ISP2 IP pool) I could use only one pool, let my IP pool be of ISP1 to acheive failover recovery.
Upto my end it is clear, I just confused at ISP side.
If ISP1 & ISP2 co-ordinates to advertise a single IP pool
1. How do they achieve the fail-over?
2. Most likely,I'm just using a subnet.Let it be x.x.x.x 255.255.255.240. Do you think announcing such a small subnet over BGP does not degrade the network performance.
3. Do you think if such advertisement increases more and more, the primary merits such as route summarization and CIDR will still exist.
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does
