Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

Hi

Please can you confirm what the directly connected neighbour is, and the configs of both sides of the link?

Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

So the directly connected neighbor should have these ip settings: 192.168.254.6 255.255.255.252. Correct?

Hi,

Thanks to both of you.

You both are correct and directly connected device is a cisco router.

Thanks in advance

Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

Kamlesh,

I had the same problem few days back. My 2621 was behaving abnormally and after few minutes it stopped responding to the ping . I had to reboot the router in order to get the connection back. Its was supected either a hardware problem or the software problem. I upgraded the router IOS and everything is fine and its working perfectly. I would suggest to try upgrading the IOS and it should take care of any cosmetic issue if we dont have a hardware problem. :-))

Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

Hi Amit,

Thanks for your reply.

Recently we have upgraded our IOS to Version 12.3(2)T6 release fc1 but still we are facing problem.

One more thing as you said you power cycled your router but in my case when i do inter shut and no shut than also it start working but again after some time it hangs.

Please advice if you something more in your mind.

Thanks in advance

Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

Kamlesh, You are able to do shut and no shut the interface as you can reach the router. In my case I was unable to reach it so I had to reload it. Do you have any other free interface on the router. try to change your interface and it will clear us about the bad hardware. Did you face the same problem before the IOS upgrade. It could be some cosmetic issue in the IOS you are running.

Try changing the port on the router and see if that follows you. If not could be the problem in the hardware.

Re: Fastethernet interface on 2600 hang

Hi Amit,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes we had different problem before upgradation it was restarting the router not only interface goes hang.

We have changed the duplex settings now it is not showing any ignore and collision error but still we have to monitor it for some more time

Thanks in Advance
