FEC Trunk between two 2900s - Spanning Tree showing BROKEN.

We have a couple of cisco WS-C2924M-XL. These are trunked together using an FEC bundle. Displaying Spanningtree indicates one of these interfaces as 'broken'. Spanning tree state normally displays broken if one end of the link is configured for trunking and the other end is not. However in this case both ends appear to be configured correctly.

all ports have the following config:

port group 2

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

Interface Fa1/3 (port 2) in Spanning tree 1 is BROKEN (Port type)

Re: FEC Trunk between two 2900s - Spanning Tree showing BROKEN.

I think I've seen this message when I interconnected two switches trunk ports via a straight-thru cable instead of a crossed one.
