Fiber 62.5/125 vs 50/125?

Hello,

I need some fiber to run between a Cisco Nexus and an IBM server with Intel NIC.  It's 30meters, and LC-LC connectors.

What is the difference between 62.5/125 vs 50/125?

Thanks

The core diameter is different.

You need a so-called mode conditioning cable to go from one type to the other.

If this is omitted, the signal will lose a few extra dB's of its signal strength.

This may not be fatal for such a short distance but still it is not recommended.

regards,

Leo
