Fiber GBIC Module(1000BaseSX)

I'm cascading two 2950 Switches using a GBIC module on each of the switches.However one of the devices reports the error:-

ETHCNTR-3-LOOP_BACK_DETECTED:, keepalive packet Loop-back detected on GigabitEthernet0/1 . The port

is forced to link down.

I have no intention of looping back anything and neither am I using a Balun cable.

What am I missing guys?

could be due to damge hardware or software. try to reload both switches and check with an other switch.

Thanks for your response.Strange thing is;after connecting the two switches,the link is established for sometime after which the LED goes off and the error message is displayed.
