File system in use (5). Try again later.

On the redundant supervisor engine II of my 6509 switch, I recieve the following message whenever I try to access the bootflash: File system in use (5). Try again later.

eg. (enable) dir 2/bootflash:

File system in use (5). Try again later.

I have waited for 24 hours with no change, formatting and I have reset the module and still the same message.

What can I do to access the bootflash ?

Thanks in advance for any info supplied.

Re: File system in use (5). Try again later.

This isn't the best reply but I have had this a few times. I think it happens when a copy/sync etc has screwed up and the second supervisor gets stuck. I have tried reseting the second supervisor but this didn't work, the only way was to reset the whole chassis - either a physical power off or a software reset (reset). After that it was fine (unless of course you have screwed up the boot parameters...).
