file transfer limitation in one way..

We are an isp and offering connection to 1 of our customers between israel

and us.

customer complain that when he do a file transfer from isreal to us he is

gettting only 0% of port speed wich is 512k.

whe he is testing from us to isreal he gets 100%.

I tried to explain that there is no limitation at our and and we tested by doing 2 or 3 file transfer the same time and I can see

utilization up to 100%

So with 1 file transfer session he has 200k only.

with 2 file transfer sessions 400k

und up to port speed with 3 sessions.

Custumer still want to reach port speed with only 1 file transfer session.

I have feeling that this is an application limitation problem but I have to

prouve it.

Anyone can advise what could limit this to only 40% ?

Hello,

can you find out if there are any bandwidth shaping devices (e.g. PacketShaper) in the path from your customer to the destination in the US ? Can you find out which FTP application your customer is using ?

GP

This is usually a problem with the hosts not being tuned for high latency connections. Sounds like the receiving host on the slow transfer is not offering a big enough window and/or the sending host does not have enough buffer space. You need to sniff it to see whats really going on.
