Hi all, can anyone tell me if its a general function of firewalls to do reverse dns lookups to verify the ip address or name of the connection being made ?

hi,

basically - if its an L3 only firewall then no need to process that function - unless it does an extended L7 processing feature such as SMTP.

i was speaking to a firewall specialist and he said its a feature of all firewalls to do this? how would i enable this on my asa ?
